The minimum wage rate has increased from $6 an hour in 1999 with increments of 25 cents an hour every year between 1999 and 2005. There were two more staged increases in 2006 and 2007 of 35 cents and 40 cents respectively which brought the rate to $8 an hour.
This marks a 42% raise since 1999. Not bad for 9 years.

I find it crazy that our minimum wage is comparable, or higher than other provinces and our cost of living is so low. I <3 Winnipeg!
