A proud city Originally uploaded by bribriTO
The picture above was taken in downtown Regina, ironicly on Winnipeg St.
Manitoba has taken the “throne” and is now the Chlamydia capital of Canada. “Woo Hoo” indeed.
A 2007 report showed that 3,815 Manitobans were infected with chlamydia which is equivalent to 400 infections per 100,000 people. That takes the record from Saskatchewan which had 3,192 chlamydia infections last year.
Wrap it up Winnipeg! STI’s (Sexual Transmitted Infections - not a WRX) are all over the place.

Autorama World of Wheels 2008 Originally uploaded by angela solis
I knew what I was getting myself into. Really I did. I knew it was a car show that didn’t really focus on the boy racer/import tuner scene that my friends and I have grown to love. Notable cars (from my point of view) was an FC RX7 with an LS2 swap, the Saturn Sky with LS2 swap and twin remote mounted turbos (hawt), this green SRT4, Shaun’s RSTi and Motion’s Civic. Other than that there were these really old trucks and hotrodish cars that I really knew nothing about.
It was a great turn out and the lines for that Jason Earles guys from Hannah Montana was amazing. Seriously the line was easily half of the convention center and probably an hour or two in wait time. Our boy Virgil was as happy as ever so that was great to see too.

Crime scene, homocide Originally uploaded by M4XIM4GE
3 people were killed this weekend in a shooting and 2 men have been arrested. The search continues for another teen believed to be involved.
You know, you really don’t know what to say about stories like these. Our hearts go out to the lost ones and the families involved. Winnipeg, like all cities, has it’s darker moments. There were three other people injured in the shooting but are currently in stable condition.

Jabbawockeez Originally uploaded by AccessWinnipeg
This might be old news for hardcore fans of the show following it on American television, but for Canadian fans, the season finale of the surprise hit tv show aired on Much Music yesterday.
The Jabbawockeez took the throne of being Americas best dance crew! They beat out Status Quo in what I’m sure to be a very large margin. What did they win? A red hat and $100k. C’mon Randy Jackson! You can do better than that!
With trends such as Canadian Idol and Canada’s Next Top Model, expect to see Canada’s Best Dance crew VERY soon - I know a lot of you Winnipeg Dance crews are very eager for this opportunity and it will definitely be an awesome show!
Post some videos of your favorite Winnipeg dance crews in our discussion forums for a chance to be featured on “Winnipegs Top 5 Dance Crews”

winnipeg comedy promo Originally uploaded by AccessWinnipeg
Winnipeg already has it’s Folklorama as a staple in the summer, but for those who can’t wait for the entertainment then, they can tickle their funny bone now with the Winnipeg Comedy Festival coming to numerous small and large venues around the city April 9th through the 13th.
Some of the comedians heading our way are the excruciatingly funny Derek Edwards and Collin Mochrie. There are many more listed on the site, so check it out.
Winnipeg Comedy Festival
If you can’t wait that long, local comedian Bid Daddy Tazz is performing at the Gas Station Theatre on April 1 with an attempted record-breaking 8 hour stand-up show. I probably won’t be able to stay up that long, but it should be a good time regardless.

So called Earth Hour Originally uploaded by TylerVersion2
It seems as though most people felt this was going to work, but then when time came to actually turn the lights off (or at least down), most people didn’t bother.
This is a shot of downtown Toronto, but overlooking downtown Winnipeg right now, I can see that most every building still has their lights on.
If the city can’t even make an effort to turn off the street lights, then why would the citizens bother with their house lights.
On a side note, the lights were stuck on red at Portage and Broadway about 2 hours ago, so maybe they saved some electricity by not switching them to green.
