OK, so the only X-Files you will see tonight will be at either 7:10 or 10:20PM at Famous Players, but if you aren’t there, look up (rather North).
Between the hours of 9 p.m. this evening and 3 a.m. tomorrow, 435 “Chinthe” Transport and Rescue Squadron will be conducting a flare drop training exercise over Lake Winnipeg.
While you may not see much, the Rescue Squadron will be doing some night-vision goggle training, terrain assessment under flare, target marking, equipment drops, and night live parachute drop operations.
Due to an increase in mosquito activity, the City of Winnipeg will be fogging for mosquitoes tonight.
This is a warning for those with small children, asthma or other health conditions. It is also only for “nuisance” mosquitoes and not the West Nile Virus fogging program. (Because apparently those mosquitoes aren’t nuisances).
Looks like public transit will be running as usual, since the City and Winnipeg Bus Drivers have finally come to an agreement. (Bus drivers have been without a contract since January.)
Although most of the issues were dealt with, the issue of working fewer hours was left up to an arbitrator.
My mom always told me and my brothers to not play with sharp objects, run with scissors or shoot ourselves in the head. While this may not seem like something to poke fun at, the boy who was at a relative’s farm east of Kellwood, is now in critical but stable condition (and is OK considering he shot himself in the head).
The boy, 12 and his older brother, 14 (always great for stuff like this) were practicing target shooting on the farm.
I’m not sure how you would do this (well, I KNOW…but why). Let’s hope the boy gets better and has learned from this experience.
CORRECTION: The vigil was yesterday, however Jennifer is still missing and the more attention brought to this, the better.
Starting today at noon until 7PM at the Legislature, the family of Jennifer Catcheway will be holding a vigil (wiki: an occasion for devotional watching) hoping for some support from other’s who have lost family members and friends.
Catcheway was last seen in Grand Rapids on June 19, according to RCMP and failed to return home for her 18th birthday.
A donation box will be available at the Leg to raise money for the search.
One thing that Winnipeg has that Calgary does not? As many hotties! We have been crowned the city with the sexiest ladies. This is according to study conducted by FastLife, a speed-dating service.
The villiage has been crowned as the sexist neighborhood in Winnipeg. Which is quite obvious since I live there!
Guys, next time you are looking for eye candy, head out to the villiage. Remember though, looking hot is NOT the same as being easy.
I had the chance to read this disturbing story in the Sun this Morning.
Really not the first thing i want to hear about at 7am.
The Readers Digest version:
An infant was left in a pickup alone, in 30+ weather with the windows just barely cracked open while the mother “ran into Super Store”. Someone found the baby crying and was off in a jiffy trying to find the owner to get the baby out of the truck. When the owner was found it didn’t even phase her that leaving her child in the car was pure child abuse.
I remember constant warnings to never leave your animals in the car during hot weather. I think people just made the assumption that you wouldn’t do it to your baby. I guess some people need things clearly laid out. Never mind the fact you should never leave you baby unsupervised, period.
I’m not going to get into a HUGE rant this morning, but I really believe that the courts should be able to order sterilization. Or maybe promote abortion more? I understand it’s your own body, but if you are not responsible enough to take care of a child, should you really have the choice to have them??
Please don’t start pro-life/pro-choice debate in the comments.
This may be hard for some people to stomach, so read at your own risk if you’ve got a weak stomach.
I heard from a friend that national news reported on a stabbing that happened on a Greyhound bus headed for Winnipeg. I find out from local news that there was more to this story.
This video has been floating around facebook for some time now. The owner of the video, faint10, was kind enough to upload it to youtube for us so we can share it with everyone else!
Last week Superstore had a crazy rice sale going on ($25 a bag originally $34) - Add that to the shortage of rice that has been happening lately and what do you get? Pure CHAOS! Check out the video above taken from the Superstore on McPhillips to see what I’m talking about.
