Winnipeg Bans Flavoured Tobacco

Written By Ken

Winnipeg North MP Judy Wasylycia-Leis has finally won the fight to ban flavoured tobacco products in Winnipeg.

Flavoured tobacco products are believed to be target to youths and a ban will help prevent them from being hooked on tobacco.

The bill will outlaw “the use of cigarillos with candy and fruit flavours added to lure young smokers.”

I think this is a great move… Tobacco is a highly addictive product. More and more teens and pre-teens are showing up to school with some candy flavoured cigarettes. Let’s get these things out of our city. Smoking kills.

I dunno, some people that aren’t children like chocolate cigars, and I’m pretty sure we can’t advertise tobacco, so i’m a bit unclear how it’s being marketed to children.

as great as the idea sounds, i still think if a child/teen is going to smoke, theyre going to smoke regardless. i dont believe candy or fruit flavours is the issue here
