Doors Open is a yearly event in which numerous buildings open their doors to the public.

I love traveling the world and checking out old buildings. Unfortunately here in Winnipeg, the cities architectural legacies are in use by businesses. Doors open gives us a chance to tour these buildings and also provide short tours or pamphlets containing interesting facts.

Most of the buildings date back to the early 1900’s, such as the Marlborough Hotel or St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Some of the buildings are quite new, such as the MTS Centre or the new Manitoba Hydro Place. You can see a full list of buildings here.

The best thing about this event? It’s completely FREE!!!!

It’s taking place this weekend – May 29th and 30th between 10-6am. Be sure to check out the opening times for each building as they may not be open during these times.

Check out the Doors Open website for more information about the event.
