4play Sports Bar & Entertainment Zone

Written By Ken | No Comments

4play Sports Bar & Entertainment Zone plans to bring a touch of Las Vegas-style sports lounges to Winnipeg. You’ve been hearing all the radio ads and hype, but 4Play is finally ready to open its doors in March.

Formerly Blush Ultraclub and located just across MTS Centre, it plans to be Winnipeg’s location for all major sporting events. How great would it have been to have this for the Gold medal Olympic Hockey game!

The main floor will have a 24-foot projection screen and 100 theatre-style seats. The second floor will be a lounge with 3 golf simulators. The 24-foot screen will be the biggest of its kind in any Winnipeg lounge.

Head to their website to register for a invite to their Grand Opening.

Blue Bombers Suing Over Cancelled Aerosmith Concert

Written By Ken | No Comments

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are suing Keystone Entertainment over the cancelled Aerosmith and ZZ Top concert last summer. The band was scheduled to perform at the stadium on August 7, 2009. The show and tour was cancelled just days before when lead singer Steven Tyler fell off the stage doing some crazy dance move.

10-thousand tickets were report to have been sold. The Bombers claim that Keystone Entertainment failed to fulfill certain terms of their contract. Concerts are cancelled all the time, and contracts often contain clauses and terms for cancellation – there must have been something that Keystone Entertainment didn’t come through with after the cancellation was announced.

Super Bowl Sunday!!!

Written By Trevor | 3 Comments

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and for those who aren’t football fans, two opposing football teams play during some wicked commercials and before/after a great concert.

For those who are, there’s no need to remind you that today is possibly the largest day in sports each year. Super Bowl XLIV is today pitting the Indianapolis Colts against the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is at 5:30 Central but be sure to tune in early to catch Carrie Underwood (*drool*) sing the National Anthem.

OK, so there’s a big game … WHERE CAN I WATCH IT???

Well, that depends. If you want to catch all of the American commercials that cost far too much to broadcast during the game, you’re going to want to get somewhere like the Joey lounge, Boston Pizza (if you buy a large pizza you get an order of Cactus Skins free!), Smitty’s, Silver Heights, etc.

If you want to catch the local commercials (which are most likely the same commercials you’d see during the Grey Cup) then you can just watch the game at home or a friend’s house. However, the plus side to this is you get to check out the Bud Light commercial starring Winnipeg’s own “The Afterbeat”.

So, who will it be? I’m betting on the Saints, 37-27.
