Gold Medal Game Most Watch Broadcast in Canadian History

Written By Ken | No Comments

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Hockey game between Canada and the U.S. was the most watched broadcast in Canadian history.

16.6 million Canadian viewers tuned into CTV/TSN/SportsNet to watch Canada win Gold over the U.S. in overtime. Canada’s population is approximately 30 million which means almost half of Canada watched the entire game… GO CANADA!!!

Compare that to the Superbowl which averages 106.5 million U.S. viewers with a population of 300 million – half of Canada vs 1/3 of the USA is VERY impressive!

52nd Annual Grammy Awards Recap

Written By Ken | 1 Comment

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards were handed out over the weekend. The biggest shocker was Taylor Swift winning Album of the Year… I still think she wouldn’t be where she is today without Kanye West. He indirectly super boosted her career.

Winners:
Album Of The Year: Taylor Swift – Fearless
Record Of The Year: Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody
Song Of The Year: Beyonce – Single Ladies
Best New Artist: Zac Brown Band
Best Female Pop Vocal Performance: Beyonce – Halo
Best Male Pop Vocal Performance: Jason Mraz – Make it Mine
Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: The Black Eyed Peas – I Got a Feeling
Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals: Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat – Lucky

View the rest at GRAMMY.com

And now for the performances…

My favourite of the night was Lil’ Wayne, Eminem & Drake – Drop The World/Forever. Notice how I didn’t mention Travis Barker? I still think his remixes are the most over rated tracks in the world. Don’t get me wrong, he’s one of the greatest drummers out there – but but ANY amateur drummer can run a beat over a hiphop/rap track. I don’t really see what they hype is over these so-called Travis Barker remixes.

* Note: The sound kicking in and out isn’t your Internet connection. Half of the performance was actually censored by CBS :(

Hit the jump for all the performances from last nights Grammy Awards…

Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz from MTV’s Jersey Shore will be making their way to Republic Nightclub on Saturday February 27th.

Ronnie and Sammi are apparently still going strong even after their breakup on the reunion show. I’m very very very sad that I will be out of town that week. I’m 99.9% sure they’ll have a fight that night and breakup and I wouldn’t mind getting some Ronnie action.  Anyone worried whether Ronnie won’t be able to keep his anger control?

Republic is located at 291 Bannatyne and is open from 9pm-2am. This is an 18+ event. Check out the facebook event here.
