Video Games Live has announced its return to Canada with 16 shows in Spring of 2011!

For those who have never been or have no idea what VGL is. I really think you should check it out. I’ve had a bast every time I’ve gone also here is a link for a detailed description. What is VGL?

After going to both shows in 2008 and 2009 i knew there was something was missing this summer. The last time VGL was here was for 3 days and it looks like they like us again this year. Even though they are only going to be here for 1 day we will still will be getting 2 shows.

Get your MTC 2010/11 Season Tickets!

Manitoba Theatre Centre 2010/11 season tickets are on sale now.

Tickets to six plays at The John Hirsch Theatre (MTC Mainstage) are as low at $86 and tickets to four plays at The Tom Hendry Theatre (MTC Warehouse) are as low as $47. It’s up to 59% off the regular ticket prices.

This year MTC Mainstage is putting on the plays One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, White Christmas, Brief Encounter, The Shunning, Calendar Girls and The 39 Steps. The Tom Hendry Theatre which contains plays with a more mature theme, is presenting Jake’s Gift, The Seafare, After Miss Julie and The Drowning Girls

If you like going to plays, as I do, this is an awesome deal. If you don’t your girlfriend/sister/mother probably does. It’s a great gift.

Free Folklorama Show Every Lunch Until August 6

Until August 6, 2010, various Folklorama pavilions will be providing free shows at Old Market Square.

The series of shows is titled Culture at the CUBE and is presented by TD Bank Financial Group. Shows run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

City Extending Season for Outdoor Pools

The city has announced that it will be allocating $128,000 to cover the cost for extending the Winnipeg outdoor pool season.

City owned Outdoor Pools and Wadding Pools will now be open until September 3, 2010. This will give children and children at heart more time to enjoy the wonderful sun Winnipeg has been having.

Ballet in the Park July 28 – 30

A Winnipeg summer tradition since the 1970’s, Ballet in the Park continuously attracts thousands of Manitobans along with summer tourists. Held at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park, the show features a mixed repertoire of works showcasing dancers from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company and students from the RWB’s Professional Division.

This year Ballet in the Park marks the launch of the 40th anniversary of the RWB School Professional Division. As a part of the anniversary celebrations there will be free creative movement classes for children offered prior to each performance, a GIANT birthday card for guests to sign, free give-a-ways, contests and much more!

Ballet in the Park 2010 will be taking place July 28th through 30th at 7.30PM.

Bikefest at the Forks

This is the second year that Mountain Equipment Co-op is putting on Bikefest which will be taking place on Sunday, July 18th at the Forks.

As MEC put it – it will be a daylong community celebration of bicycles and all things bicycle related.

Event Description

There will be something for everyone at MEC Bikefest. Bring the whole family out from 11:00am to 4:00pm for our summer cycling celebration.

Events to look for include:

* Cycling workshops on bicycle maintenance and fit
* Children’s cycling workshop
* Kids bike decorating station by Art City
* Free session of yoga for the cyclist, with Moksha Yoga
* Group rides for families and all skill levels
* Cycle commuting information sessions from local cycling advocacy and awareness groups
* Demonstrations by local trail and flatland riders
* NEW! MEC Bike Swap
