A little late on the posting, but that’s what a lack of computer can do to you..

Anyways, Friday, August 8 was the Masses’ Launch Party at the Event Exchange Center, and boy was it a good party. Unfortunately, i didn’t get there in time to see Dummy Squad perform, but from what I’ve heard, their performance was awesome. I’m kinda sad that I missed out on it.

I did, however, get there in time to see Dangerous Goods. I thought it was going to be similar to their Jabbawockeez performance, but for this performance, it was a few of the guys from the crew freestylin’. Nonetheless, they were very entertaining,

The DJ for the night was DJ D-Lo, and anytime he’s DJ-ing an event, you know you’re gonna hear some good music. He plays everything: hip hop, r&b, old school, reggae..anything and everything to get people up and dancing and having a good time, and from the looks of it, everyone was having a good time.

There were quite a few people walking around with different designs of the Masses’ Shirts.  I was kind of hoping to be able to pick one up at the party, but I guess i have to make my way down to Urban Bakery to pick one up.

All in all, the Masses’ threw one helluva party and AccessWinnipeg wishes you guys the best of luck.

Hollywood looses another one of its finest.

Comedian and Chicago native Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning, August 9, 2009, from complications due to pneumonia. Bernie Mac was 50 years old and leaves behind a Wife (Rhonda McCullough), daughter (Je’Niece), and granddaughter (Jasmine).

No one will ever be able to replace his role in the Ocean’s series that I loved so much. Rest in peace Bernie! Thanks for bringing your joy and laughter in to so many homes.

Winnipegers are Boring

Sleeping On The Bus Originally uploaded by rycordell

I don’t agree with this statement, however some of our fellow Canadians do.

Focus groups across Canada have been questioned on their thoughts on the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, which is slated to open it’s doors in Winnipeg in 2012.

The location of the museum is viewed negatively by French speaking focus groups in Monction, Quebec City and Montreal along with the visible minority focus group held in Montreal. Most common complaints are cold, boring, far and uninteresting.

Other places either were not very concerned about the location or did not raise location as an issue. These places include Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Toronto, Kitchener, Thunder Bay, Red Deer and Whitehorse.

Why are the French hating on Winnipeg?? Don’t we have one of the largest french speaking population in Western Canada?

Mosquito bite Originally uploaded by James Jordan

Mosquito fogging is resuming tonight, which is great and all, except for the fact they are not doing my area. Why are there so many damn bugs in Osborne? It’s bad. I swear I have west nile.

The city should spray for all bugs, including spiders. That would make my day.

If you live in any one of these areas, make sure your windows are closed tonight.
